I was writing a post and I began checking out some sites while thinking about some of the things I wanted to say and some chickie’s website crashed IE and therefore I lost the lurvley three paragraphs on camgirls. I am a bit hesitant to re-write what I wrote as re-writing what I wrote is only regurgitating what I was writing while I was thinking, which doesn’t make me feel at all genuine while I’m trying to recapture the irony and cynicism of what I was writing in the first place… get my drift?
In any event, the basics of my erased post was this: “Camgirls disgust me and they’ve all turned out to be cheap whores!” GASP!!!!! DID I SAY THAT? My rant can be all summed up into three major points:
1. The amount of camgirls that have joined the “shake my titties in front of the cam and hope for some paypal donation or wishlist item” seems to have increased incredibly…particularly cam girls who have been around for a while who were never into that sort of thing…
2. Many camgirls disillusion themselves into believing that copyright laws or “members-only” shows on their websites will restrict or limit their audience to whom they want to see their images and where it is displayed.
3. Very few camgirls actually do this for artistic expression and freedom. Few understand the consequences of what they do. Most need a reality check.
Being a camgirl is a really really funny thing. I mean, it created a whole new level of empowerment for women. A webcam is now a device that can be used to attract and allure a variety of different men, it can be used anytime and anywhere the camgirl wants and she can display what she wants. It’s all on her terms. Yet it’s made it so easy for girls who don’t understand the consequences and who are emotionally immature. A computer, internet access, and a webcam, is all a girl needs to inadvertently hurt her career and/or personal life. I would feel completely differently, if our society was more accepting of human sexuality and respected people who sold their bodies for sex - but that’s not how it is and unless you live in a situation where your life is not affected by other people’s thoughts and views, one has to understand the consequences of their actions……
BUT ENOUGH….I can’t help talking about camgirls…the whole sub-culture really interests me…
What have I been doing?
I finally finished a semester of grad school. I’m on vacation, living it up at home with Otto…woohoo. I’m working extremely hard and do have a little journal all about my work - if you would like to read it, email me for the addy.
Ah, and my newest reality show addiction (other than the Osbournes) is the Anna Nicole Smith show. I can’t help but become obsessed with it. I find it insane that someone can really live the way she does and has no clue that her reality show is completely exploitive and mocking. It’s so fascinating! Of course Otto finds it stupid. Ah well.
